CHARCOAL EVENTS was contacted by Elizabeth at the end of May 2018 to help plan her wedding for end of August 2018. Her and her fiancé Bill were newly engaged and they were looking for venues to host an amazing dinner experience for their closest loved ones to celebrate their engagement.

After our first meeting it was evident that Liz & Bill wanted more than just a dinner and my scope was quickly expanded to full wedding planning including a ceremony. The biggest constraint I was given was the actual date of the wedding, given they both have extremely busy schedules. The challenge was to find a venue that was available, and could serve double duty as a ceremony space and a reception space.

We were lucky to find Boehmer! Not only were they available but they were so incredible to work with. Liz & Bill really wanted to give their guests a fantastic culinary experience, and Boehmer definitely rose to the challenge.

Through a few meetings and lots of emails we were able to lock down a photographer, florist and an officiant and we were off running!

We did something very unique for the reception. We set the restaurant up with one enormous harvest table that ran the length of the venue seating 75 guests. It was a sight!! Very modern feeling.

Florals were kept natural and elegant. Bud vases were scattered down the length of the guest table with two larger arrangements used for the ceremony and served double duty for bar decor later in the evening. Each guest received a small potted succulent plant as their favour (and served double duty as a name card holder).

Guests were treated to the most incredible food starting with a very lux oyster bar during cocktail hour and ending with a late night buffet of Boehmer’s poutine speciality.
