CHARCOAL EVENTS was contacted by Veronika at the end of March 2017. Her and Joseph were recently engaged and were looking to get married by end of May. We had only two months to plan a wedding where all details were taken care of! Joseph was out of the country working so he was on email to help with the decision making process.

When Veronika and I had our first initial planning meeting she had already reached out to a venue and had a soft hold on the date she wanted. A huge plus to have the venue already secured given the short time line. Unfortunately, the venue space was sold to another Client during the time that we had a site visit set up. So we hit a bit of a roadblock right off the bat, losing a bit of time in the planning process to have to start from the beginning and search for a new venue. But I think things happen for a reason and I quickly had some new venues for Veronika and I to visit.

Veronika and Joseph agreed to host their wedding ceremony and reception in downtown Toronto at La Maquette. A gorgeous venue that was the perfect size for their intimate celebration, offered the potential for an outdoor ceremony and fit perfectly with their budget. Once we had the contract signed at La Maquette everything just fell into place. Veronika and Joseph knew exactly what they did and didn’t want, which made my job that much more efficient. We had all of our vendors locked in very quickly and were off to the races.

The day of the wedding, unfortunately weather wasn’t on our side. We had to make a game day decision to move the ceremony from the outdoor patio of La Maquette to inside. The staff worked very quickly to move things around and was a quick flip from ceremony to cocktail reception.

For the reception, held on the upstairs level of La Maquette, we opted for very simple greenery on the tables and reused the florals from the ceremony as part of the gorgeous sweetheart table
